Long Description
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
CatADS
------
This is going to be short since this one is real simple. As always, there
is absolutely no guarantees on this. It may or may not work and it may or
may not corrupt your file area (it won't but that's beside the point). I
take no responsibility for it. Source code is included. Feel free to
modify it as long as you send me your "better mousetrap" version of it.
What it does
------------
CatADS takes a file area and checks to see if each file has a .ADS file.
If it does, then the ADS file is *added* to the end of the file
description. This is good because it still leaves the short description
from the file comment intact. Both the ADS and its entry in the file.dat
are deleted.
How to use it
-------------
Just put all the file areas you want checked on the command line like so:
catads 100 101 102 103 104
Things to note
--------------
* CatADS does *not* lock the file areas. I would definitely suggest
running it while no users are online. I have yet to have a problem with
it running at any time however.
* You may want to add this command to your tick processing script.
Scanning is quite fast even on large areas unless you have a large
number of *.ADS files.
Changes
-------
* Yes, CatADS now recognizes alternate file paths (but only searches
for files in them and not in the standard areas). This was requested
by many people so here it is!
* Fixed a bug in the copy of the ADS file to the description that
resulted in the final description having the last line of the ADS
repeated.
* Some minor comestic changes (ie, now shows usage and version).
* Updated README with my correct FidoNet address. One of the local
sysops (not even a DLG sysop) pointed this out to me.
